Hermes, I’m sorry about your friend, and of course your father, the contrast between the two cases is definitely enlightening.

I admire your climbing, but that wouldn’t be acceptable for a Stoic. Putting one’s life at risk in order to meditate seems to be disproportionate.

Agreed on mindfulness and meditation, not on psychedelics. Again, Stoics value their faculty of judgment, which is altered and/or impaired by the acquisition of drugs. (Diogenes Laertius famously says that Stoics drink wine, but do not get drunk.)
