I don’t think we need tor resolve quantum mechanics in order to provisionally conclude that stories of gods are invented by human beings to feel better and less lonely.

Not only LLMs are not conscious, they are not even intelligent in any meaningful sense of the term. Consciousness, so far as we can tell, is a specific biological process, evolved in specific lineages, and that requires certain types of physical substrate. Hence, no simulation. Of course, I could be wrong, but I think the burden of proof, at the moment, is on the other side.

No, we don’t all have gods. I have none, and I’m guessing neither do you. It’s a pernicious concept, better do without it.
