Joe, thanks for your thoughtful comments. Yes, I do think that gAI is here to stay and that it is wiser to find ways to use it properly. That said, I am not convinced that most of our undergraduate (or pre-college) students have the maturity to do that. For many of them it is just a way to get a shortcut to the grade they seek. And yes, gAI is a technology, but technologies are not necessarily neutral (contra widespread assumption), and the current generation of AI is still highly problematic. We’ll see where all of this goes!
