Kelly, people can and should do whatever makes most sense to them. Epicureanism has a number of similarities with Stoicism already — for instance their approach toward death. Which is why Seneca often helps himself to Epicurus in his letters to Lucilius.

However, one needs to be careful about how one picks and chooses, because presumably we wish to maintain a degree of internal coherence in our philosophy of life. And that’s not always possible when one freely borrows from other traditions.
