Laurence, it's not just me, scholars of Greco-Roman philosophy consider Epicurean metaphysics to be deterministic.

Yes, the swerve is the exception. But it is obviously arbitrary, ad hoc, and entirely unsubstantiated. A really bad move, philosophically speaking.

But you are right about the Epicureans anticipating an un-caring, non-rational universe.
